New award-winning rehabilitation centre
A new state-of-the-art care and neurological rehabilitation centre, offering the highest quality care to those who have experienced life-changing illnesses and injuries, is currently under construction in St Neots. Due to open in Spring 2016, The Marbrook Centre Cambridgeshire has been praised for the design of its multi-million pound complex, having won the Best New Care Facility category in the Independent Healthcare Apex (IHA) Awards.
The neurological rehabilitation service will offer a unique approach developed on a firm foundation of best practice research and experience, aimed at providing the highest quality care for those living with neurological conditions. The Marbrook Centre will also provide a specialist facility for those living with dementia, developed in full accordance with Stirling University’s published dementia good practice standards and committed to achieving gold standard accreditation. Both services provided at the award-winning Marbrook Centre will be available to adults of all ages.
The award won for the revolutionary design was received by Dawn Bloy, the Centre’s Deputy Manager, and Robert Myers, Head of Care Pathways, at Brandon Hall in October this year. Commenting at the IHA awards on Marbrook’s work, the judging panel said: “From the adherence to Stirling University’s best principles for good dementia friendly design, to the range and number of neuro rehabilitation facilities under one roof, you can really see where the Marbrook team are focusing their efforts”.
Marbrook will ultimately employ some 150 people across clinical, administrative and care-based roles. With first-class facilities and cutting-edge rehabilitation equipment available on-site, Marbrook will be seeking to recruit caring, compassionate staff who are able to offer the highest standards of clinical care, as part of a recruitment drive in preparation for the Centre’s opening next year.
Sue Hahn, General Manager and Head of Care Services, said: “As thrilling as winning this award is, it’s our care team that will really bring the service to life. At Marbrook, our priority is to ensure that each individual receives the highest standard of care and is able to make life choices independently, despite the challenges they and their families are facing. Our comprehensive training programme will ensure that new members of staff fully understand and reflect these core values. Those that join us will not only possess courtesy, respect and friendly smiles – but will also work effectively with residents to achieve the very best levels of wellness”.
The Marbrook Centre has plans to open additional facilities across Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and possibly Buckinghamshire.
